Gaming mice
Almost every specification printed on a gaming mouse box is now irrelevant. Sensors are effectively perfect, wireless is effectively wired, and click latency differences are below perception. What is left, and what nobody puts on the box, is whether the shape fits your hand.
What actually matters, in order
- Shape and size, matched to your hand and grip. Nothing else is close.
- Weight, but only above about 80 g, and mostly at low sensitivity.
- Glide, meaning skates and pad together, because that is the surface your hand feels.
- Switch feel, which is about confidence rather than milliseconds.
- Polling rate, up to 1000 Hz. Then it stops mattering.
- Sensor. Genuinely last. Any modern flagship or mid-tier sensor is beyond your ability to fault.
